Are you actually ready to learn—or are you just saying the words?
Here's a truth that will either set you free or sting a little: Saying you have a learning mindset and actually having one are two very different things.
We see it behind the chair. We see it in fresh cosmetology graduates, in independent artists working one day a week because overhead keeps them small, and in stylists inside commission salons who are still green around the edges when it comes to building a luxury clientele. Some have never had to fully support themselves financially, so the urgency isn't there. Others want the coaching but resist taking ownership of their own growth.
"Mane Janes: Empowering stylists, redefining independence."
Here's the question that separates the amateur from the pro: When someone offers you feedback—a different technique, a new perspective, a correction—do you lean in? Or do you bristle? Do you find yourself defensive, hurt feelings rising before you've even processed what was said?
Pause, and be honest.
